Hydrogen sulfide safety level

November 2, 2006

IN view of the recent news that Guimaras residents may now return to their homes, this site is providing the Wikipedia link on what hydrogen sulfide is all about and why it is dangerous to one’s health.

There are different emission standards or safety levels for hydrogen sulfide per country. It is important that the Philippines determines one true standard all its government agencies will strictly follow.

In such cases as the Guimaras oil spill, the old adage, “It is better to err on the side of caution,” should be a guideline for the oil spill task force. The last thing we need is the usual politicking to determine the safety of the return of evacuees to their homes, just so some government officials are able to score pogi points with the Presidentita and the media.
